The TEREA range is organised into three main categories, each offering distinct taste profiles:
Classic Options
These focus on the tobacco base with added flavour nuances. You'll find Yellow, Amber, Teak, Sienna, and Russet in this category. They emphasise elements like nuts, malt, wood, and tea to complement the tobacco. Amber seems particularly popular based on user feedback - one customer described it as "best tasting by far, smooth with that tobacco after taste."
Menthol Varieties
Three intensity levels here: Turquoise offers low-intensity menthol, Green provides balanced peppermint, and Blue delivers bold, cool menthol. If you're switching from menthol cigarettes, these options should feel familiar.
Aromatic Selection
Mauve sits in this category with mild berry and mint notes. One user mentioned it's their favourite, saying "A bit of berry and minty flavour... Used to smoke menthol cigarettes before. Now IQOS only!"
There's also newer options like Abora Pearl with "aromatic cool apple" flavour, though availability might vary.
How do you properly use TEREA sticks?
Using TEREA sticks is straightforward once you know the correct method. Insert your stick into the top of your IQOS ILUMA device with the filter and 'TEREA' printed word facing up. The stick slides in until the device's top lines up with the silver band on the stick.
Here's something useful - you can tell used sticks from fresh ones by two indicators: the paper around the filter gets slightly creased, and there'll be a slight tobacco vapour stain. Some people put used sticks back in the pack upside-down to avoid confusion later.
The wavy line should be visible on unused sticks, which is another way to check. If you try using a HEETS stick in an ILUMA device, nothing happens - the device won't start because it only activates when it detects a TEREA stick.
What's the difference between TEREA and HEETS?
TEREA sticks use completely different heating technology compared to HEETS. While HEETS relied on a blade that heated tobacco from outside, TEREA sticks have an integrated electromagnetic core that heats from inside. This SmartCore Induction system means no blade contact, which should result in less device maintenance and more consistent heating.
The flavour profiles match many original HEETS options - you'll recognise names like Amber and Sienna. However, the heating method difference might affect taste slightly, even with similar flavour profiles.
Compatibility is the biggest practical difference. TEREA only works with ILUMA devices, while HEETS worked with older IQOS models. You can't mix and match between generations.
Are there any downsides to consider?
TEREA sticks come with some limitations worth knowing about. First, they're only compatible with ILUMA devices, so if you have an older IQOS, you'll need to upgrade. The sticks also can't be used with any other heated tobacco devices.
Price-wise, they're positioned as premium products, as one user noted they're "less than half the price" compared to cigarettes. Still, the initial device investment plus ongoing stick costs add up.
