The Best Pod Devices - A Brief Summary
In this blog I'll be discussing the best pod vape kits, ranging from mouth to lung pod vape kits through to direct to lung pod vapes, as well as those with closed systems and open systems. However, don't fret if you don't understand what these terms mean, if you're feeling impatient you can check our Vape Glossary for an explanation. Best Closed Pod Kits
Closed pod systems are pod kits that come with pre-filled pods. These are vape pods that have been pre-filled with vape juice, and are not refillable or reusable. Once the pod is empty it needs to be replaced with a new one.
This type of pod kit is perfect for new vapers, as it requires minimal maintenance. There's no need to change vape coils or refill the pod - simply slot the pre-filled pod into the device, and it's ready to use. Although these types of vapes are also popular with experienced vapers - they enjoy the convenience and compact size of these vapes.

The SKE Crystal 4 in 1 is #1 on our list of closed pod systems. I've placed it in the first position due to the fact that not only is it one of the very best pod kits, but it's also one of the best pre-filled pod kits too. The Crystal 4 in 1 is manufactured by the same company that created the SKE Crystal Bar 600. It features the same vape juice in its pre-filled pods as you'll find in these disposable vapes.
However, the 4in1 Crystals are rechargeable vape devices featuring a 950mAh battery. This allows the Crystal to last longer, ensuring you make the most of each and every puff and enjoy the same great flavour. This was great for me as the device lasted all day without needing to be recharged.
The Crystal 4in1 pre-filled pods are available in a wide range of flavours and feature a 20mg (2%) nicotine strength. When coupled with the tight airflow the Crystal is great for mouth to lung vaping. It produces a similar sensation to smoking, but without the same harmful side effects that are associated with tobacco use. The e-liquids in these preloaded pods are nic salts, which provides vapers with a smoother throat hit and strong flavour.
Testing the device was an absolute treat. I opted for the Blue Edition because I'm a pretty big fan of blueberry flavours generally, and I have to admit the 4in1 was better than I could have anticipated. However, before we get to the flavour let's talk about the design. The outside of the device is covered in a clear plastic covering with a crystal-like design that showcases the vibrant colour beneath. Despite being made of plastic, the casing felt surprisingly durable and hardwearing.
The Blue Edition comes with 4 pre-filled pods containing different flavours. The flavours are Blueberry Sour Raspberry, Cola Ice, Blueberry Raspberry & Blueberry Peach. The flavour in these pods was phenomenal, I really can't recommend them enough.
Each had a slight coolness that gave them a refreshing feel which counteracted a little of the sweetness. This created an enjoyable vape that I was happy to use all day long, and I did just that. Each of the pods lasted for approximately 600 puffs each. This means that one pod was more than enough to get me through the day. You should be aware though that the longevity of the pods can vary depending on how often you use the vape, as well as the length of your inhale.
All in all I'd highly recommend this pre-filled pod kit. It deserves to be on my list of the best pod vapes, as it has all of the convenience and portability of a single use disposable vape, but is more cost effective and longer lasting.
Lost Mary Tappo - Pocket-Sized but Powerful

The Lost Mary Tappo is another incredible pre-filled pod kit - like the SKE, it features a 2ml pod that has been prefilled with 2ml of nicotine salt vape juice for great flavour and a smoother throat hit, even though its nicotine strengths are high. The Tappo features a 750mAh internal battery which is smaller than other pre-filled kits, but it was still enough to last almost the entire day, although I did have to recharge the vape towards the end of the day.
The Tappo has a metallic outer casing which protects the device if you were to accidentally drop it; however, the pods weren't a particularly tight fit, and so if you drop the device the pod is likely to go flying and become lost. Thankfully this didn't happen to me - but I can see it happening to others if they're not careful. One slight disappointment was the fact that the Tappo came with only one pre-filled pod. Although for the price I can't complain too much, as it is really high quality for the price.
As I tested the Lost Mary pod kit, one thing became immediately apparent - they're using the famous QUAQ coil technology. The pod (I opted for the Stainless Steel pod kit which came with a Strawberry Ice pod) offered great flavour, especially when compared with the average 600 puff vapes that I'd been using previously.
The strawberry came through very strongly and was quickly followed by the cool icy sensation; I was really happy with this choice as the ice wasn't too strong, so it enhanced the strawberry notes rather than overpowering them.
The only real downside, and it was only a slight one, was the fact that the Tappo pod didn’t last quite as long as I’d expected. Rather than achieving the full 600 puffs from the pod I instead received around 600 puffs before the pod was empty and needed to be replaced. This could be down to the fact that I enjoyed the flavour, and so was vaping more frequently. However, I would have liked it to last longer - if you’re using the Tappo I'd recommend grabbing some spare pods, as if you’re like me you might be caught unawares by the pod running out suddenly.
I have to say that overall I was really happy with the Lost Mary Tappo and will likely pick up another in future, as it performed really well. It's small but packs a punch whilst also maintaining the feel of MTL vaping, which is no easy feat. If you're interested in mouth to lung vapes but aren't sure what would suit you, check out the Tappo pre-filled pod kit by Lost Mary.

The Elfa Pro by Elf Bar is a wonderful little pen style vape and I'm more than happy to add it to my list of the best pod vapes. It comes with a built-in rechargeable 500mAh battery, unlike Elf Bar's disposable range, so you can use it for longer and don't need to worry about the battery dying before you've run out of e-liquid. Also, with a battery life of just 500mAh I wasn't expecting a huge amount of longevity, but the device still lasted for around 8 hours before I needed to charge it.
This petite pen vape is small enough to slide into a pocket or bag with ease, which makes it great for vapers who are always on the go and are looking for a portable pen type vape. However, it might be slightly too small in the sense that if you're carrying a big bag and throw the Elfa Pro in there without thinking, it might take you a little while to find it again.
The Elfa Pro is another closed pod system that only comes with one pre-filled pod - this isn't the end of the world as it's a budget-friendly vape and the replacement pods aren't particularly expensive, but it would still be nice if Elf Bar offered more with the pod kit.
All of the Elfa flavours are based on the best selling disposable vape flavours that can be found in their 600 puff selection; but for testing purposes I went with one of the most popular - Blue Razz Lemonade. Like other pre-filled pod kits the Blue Razz Lemonade pod had been filled with 2ml of nic salt vape juice in a 20mg (2%) nicotine strength and was very user friendly. Once the bottom of the Elfa pod was pushed in all I needed to do was slot it into the device and start inhaling.
The flavour was almost exactly the same as the Elf Bar disposables; the only noticeable difference was that the Elfa seemed to have an ever so slightly stronger flavour than the single use vapes. This was a bonus in my eyes, as the more flavour the better! The amount of airflow coming through the vape was incredibly similar to that of the single use vapes too.
If you want to enjoy your favourite flavour in the Elf Bar vapes for longer, you definitely need to check out the Elfa Pro. It's simple, straightforward and easy to use, making it suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to advanced users. However, as the pods contain 20mg strength vape juice this device could be a bit strong for those who aren't used to strong nicotine strengths.

Elux made a name for themselves when they debuted their flagship range of disposable vapes; the Elux Legend 600 puffs. Since those early days Elux have come along in leaps and bounds, releasing many more ranges of disposable vapes, as well as their Elux Legend nic salt liquids - and now they have pod kits too!
The Elux Zero N - despite what the name may imply, is not a nicotine free vape. Strangely though, the Zero N is a pod kit that does not come with a pod; instead the Elux Zero N prefilled pods have to be purchased separately. Although this does give you more freedom to choose your favourite flavour, rather than sticking to the ones offered, it could be a little off putting for some vapers.
I selected the Blueberry Cherry Cranberry prefilled pods because I love berry based flavours and really enjoyed this flavour in the Elux single use vapes - and they did not disappoint! These pods hold 2ml of vape juice and feature a nicotine strength of 20mg in the form of nic salts.
From the very first puff the flavour came through really well, to the point that I found the device hard to put down. However, I was forced to put it down when it needed charging after approximately 6 - 8 hours of use; this is due to its 400mAh internal battery. Although the battery life is quite short for a prefilled pod kit, I wasn't too put out as the Zero N by Elux only takes 30 minutes to fully recharge.
The pods seemed to last for the full 600 puffs each ~ although I'll admit I wasn't exactly counting, they did last for quite a long time - the best part of an entire day before it ran out of e-liquid and needed replacing.
As with many of the other prefilled pod kits that I tested for the purposes of this blog, the Elux Zero N was as quick and easy to use as a disposable vape. What makes the Zero N stand head and shoulders above disposables though is the fact that it lasts so much longer than single use vapes due to its rechargeable battery, and it's much cheaper to maintain in the long term, too.
If you haven't tried this pod kit already, you should; it's easily one of the best pod vapes out there right now. The Zero N is an inexpensive substitute for beginners that are looking to dip their toe into the world of vaping without going all out by buying a refillable pod kit.
Another type of pod kit that has made it onto my list of the best pod vape kits is refillable pod kits, which are also known as open pod systems. These are pod systems that allow you to pick your own e-liquid and use it to fill the pods. In my opinion this makes them the best vape pods, as you can select your favourite flavour.
You're also not limited to the flavour supplied within the pod that comes with the kit. This is one of the ways in which refillable vape pods are similar to vape tanks, as you can use your own vape juice and have more control over your vaping experience, as well as nicotine strengths.
Vaporesso Xros 4 - Power in the palm of your hand!

Vaporesso never fails to amaze me with their innovative take on vapes. It's almost as though they're in a constant competition with themselves to produce the best vape kit. As a result there is a continuous stream of improvements and upgrades, ranging from changes to the adjustable airflow, to an adjustable power output, as well as improved refillable vape pods.
The Xros 4 comes with 2 refillable pods, both of which feature fixed coils - this means that you cannot change the coils. Instead, when the pod begins to taste different, or you start to notice a lack of flavour, you can instead dispose of the entire thing and replace the pod with a new one. The pods feature a 0.4 Ohm resistance and a 0.8 Ohm resistance. When you take into account the adjustable settings too, this makes the Vaporesso Xros 4 the perfect pod kit for both new vapers and experienced vapers alike.
As the xros pods feature a top-fill system they don't need to be removed from the device in order to refill them with your favourite e-liquid. Pop off the top, squeeze in your e-liquid, and away you go! This nifty little pod mod has a maximum power output of 30W, so it's best that you stick to nic salts, or another vape juice with a 50/50 VG/PG ratio as it will perform best with this type of liquid.
Due to the new Corex 2.0 coil technology, the new Xros pods are absolute beasts. Their flavour authenticity is out of this world! I try not to be biassed when I review new products, because I like to give a fair representation, but I honestly couldn't find a single fault with the Xros 4. The battery lasted all day, even whilst I was using it on the highest power setting. The pods produce amazing flavour, and there's more than enough cloud to satisfy both MTL vapers, and restricted direct to lung vapers too.
Lastly, I was super impressed by the adjustable power and the adjustable airflow of the Xros 4; I messed around with the settings for a while before I got the perfect puff for me. This turns out to be full power with the airflow slightly restricted.
However, my point is that with all of these customisation options you can tailor your vaping experience to match your mood, or your individual preferences. If you're looking for a versatile vape - this is the one for you, and deserves its #1 spot on my list of the best vape pods!
Elf Bar ELFX - Elf Bar, but Xtreme!

What can I say except - wow!? I did not expect the Elfx by Elf Bar to be as good as it is, because I was never blown away by their disposables. I'm so happy I was wrong about their pod kit though!
The Elfx might not have all of the bells and whistles that other pod kits do, due to the fact that you can't manually adjust its power settings, but it's still every bit as powerful as other pod vapes of its kind. The Elfx bases its wattage output on which pod you insert into the battery, as it automatically adjusts its output for the best, and most efficient output.
As I prefer a more powerful puff I tested the Elfx with the 0.6Ohm refillable vape pods, which I believe uses the full 30W of power, and I was astounded. The Elfx pod had such great flavour, as well as a notable amount of vapour that's directly between a mouth to lung vape and a direct to lung vape. Aside from this it doesn't have any buttons, but it does have an adjustable airflow. The lack of buttons is likely because the device is inhale activated, which makes it incredibly user friendly.
Whilst testing the Elfx I discovered that although it has a 1000mAh internal battery like the Xros 4; it actually seems to last a little longer. I used the device for more than a full day before I needed to recharge it, which was definitely longer than the pre-filled vapes. This could be due to the fact that the power is automatically adjusted as the battery life is slowly used up, which allows the vape to last longer overall.
I didn't try to use a high VG vape liquid with the Elfx as it only has a maximum output of 30W. Instead I chose to test it out with my favourite e-liquid - Bar Series Pink Lemonade nic salt vape juice in a 5mg strength.
Obviously, you can use whatever flavour vape juice you prefer, but I'd advise against going for anything with a VG/PG ratio thicker than 50/50. Liquids with a thicker consistency can cause the pods to burn out too quickly, and can make the vape spit back at you as it can't vapourise all of the e-liquid effectively due to the low power.
Elf Bar really have outdone themselves with the Elfx pod kit; I didn't expect it to make it onto my list. However, I now have absolutely zero doubts about the fact that it's one of the best vape devices with refillable pod vapes in the UK this year. Elf Bar have made themselves the one to watch with their latest release - I don't know about you, but I'll certainly be keeping an eye on them in the coming months.
OXVA Xlim Pro - The Xlim for Pro Vapers

The Oxva Xlim Pro is another open pod system in the Xlim line that features fixed mesh coil pods. Before I really get into it, I just want to say that one of the very best things about the Xlim Pro, and all of the Xlim vapes, is that they're cross compatible.
You can use the original Xlim pods, as well as the V2 or V3 pods, with each of the latest vapes. What does this mean for you? It means that if you're upgrading to the latest Xlim, but still have pods left over, it's not a problem. You can use the same pods in your new Xlim Pro, too!
Xlim vapes are a great way for beginners to get to grips with vaping - why? Because they have a Smart wattage feature which automatically sets the device to the perfect wattage for the pod you're using - that's not all though. The Xim vapes are also inhale activated as well as button activated, so you can pick the activation method that suits you and your style.
If you were previously a smoker you might feel more comfortable using the inhale activation. Whereas if you're a more experienced vaper who has used advanced vapes previously, you might instead prefer to press the button to activate the device.
Of course before I tested the Xlim Pro I did a bit of research, and I read that the battery can last for up to 3 days on one charge. However, I'm not entirely convinced of this. The Pro Xlim has a built-in 1000mAh battery and it's capable of fast charging with a 2A charging rate, but does that equate to 3 days of use on just one full charge?
I used the 0.6 Ohm pod that it came with on 25W (the maximum is 30W), so I didn't have the device set to its max output; the device didn't last for 3 days. I got about a day and a half of battery life before I needed to charge the Xlim Pro. Perhaps if you used the pod with the highest resistance and the lowest wattage you might be able to achieve the full 3 days of battery life, but for me personally it just didn't work out that way.
Despite my qualms about the battery, I still believe that the Xlim Pro deserves its spot in my list of the top 10 best pod vapes; it's slim, lightweight, easy to use and offers amazing flavour as well as next-level compatibility. If you're considering the Xlim Pro you're onto a winner!
Nevoks Feelin AX - Flawless Flavour & Functionality

Never heard of Nevoks? You're going to wish you had! The Nevoks Feelin AX is a slim, pen-style pod kit that comes with two fixed-coil mesh pods for ease of use. It's suitable for all experience levels as it has adjustable features for the advanced vapers, as well as a Smart Mode wattage. The Smart mode automatically selects the correct power output for the pod you're using.
I honestly didn't know what to expect with the Feelin AX. It had been several years since I last used a pod vape developed by Nevoks, but they're just as good as I remember. The Feelin AX was so, so easy to use. It may seem a little intimidating to new vapers, due to all of the customisable functions and settings, but the software that Nevoks install on their devices takes care of 90% of this for you. All you really need to do is fill the refillable vape pods, set your airflow, and it's ready to go.
The Feelin A1 pods that come with the AX Feelin are some of the best vape pods I have ever used. The rubber stopper that seals the refill port was made of a thick, high quality material so I wasn't worried about it becoming damaged during use. Also, to top it off, the flavour was just wow! I always use Bar Series nic salts. I've tried almost every flavour and I enjoy the smoother throat hit that they offer. In the Feelin AX it was like I was vaping Bar Series again for the first time.
These pods don't just provide the best taste though. The pods also have some of the best vapour production I've ever seen. At 30W the Feelin AX produced enough thick clouds to rival devices that have been DESIGNED for restricted direct to lung vaping. To test this further I swapped out the 0.4 Ohm pod for the 0.8 Ohm that the kit actually comes with, and it had me hooked. By closing off the airflow to the halfway point and dropping the wattage to 14W, it was like I was using a completely different vape. The taste was just as good, but the amount of vapour and the style of vaping was completely different.
If I haven't made it apparent already, the Nevoks Feelin AX is a next gen pod device that's more than capable of satisfying both mouth to lung vapers. It also features enough settings for you to tailor and make your own, which is great for those who are looking for a restricted direct to lung vape. Originally I used the Feelin AX for the purposes of reviewing it. Since then it's become clear to me in just a few days that I won't be putting it down anytime soon.

It's hard to choose just a few of the standout features of the VooPoo Argus G2, because it's an all-round great kit. I'll do my best to explain why it's one of my favourites though. The Argus G2 comes with 2 argus pods with different coils. One of these pods has a low resistance coil, whilst the other has a high resistance coil. This means that from the get-go VooPoo are offering a pod for larger clouds, and a pod for smaller clouds.
Both of the Argus pods (0.4 Ohm and 0.7 Ohm) have great flavour and allow you to make the most of the battery capacity. However, the main difference between the two pods isn't their vapour production; it's the power output. The 0.4 Ohm pod has been made with restricted direct to lung vapers in mind, whilst the 0.7 Ohm pod is better suited to mouth to lung vapers.
When I tested the Argus G2 by VooPoo I mainly used the 0.4 Ohm pod. This pod makes larger clouds, more power, and left me feeling satisfied. The 0.4 Ohm pod also performed really well up to the maximum wattage (30W). If you enjoy sub-ohm vaping I'd really recommend this pod - it has the perfect power level for an enjoyable restricted sub-ohm experience.
The Argus G2 was also really easy to use. Its one button is used to activate the device, switch it on/off, as well as adjust the power. If you're new to vaping, this could be the kit for you. The Argus G2 has a number of features that are ideal for first time vapers, from the inhale activation mechanism that allows you to puff on your pod kit the same way you would on a cigarette, to the Smart Mode which selects the right power for your kit.
Lastly, I was surprised by the fact that the Argus G2 has 3 power modes. Often a device will have only one power mode, but VooPoo have put care and thought into this pod device.
- Smart Mode selects the best wattage for the pod that you're using.
- Super Mode offers the smoothest inhale and produces tonnes of flavour.
- Eco Mode helps increase the battery capacity.
Overall I'd highly recommend this cute little pod kit to anyone that's looking for a first time vape, or fancies an upgrade. The G2 Argus is cheap, works really well and is super easy to use!

Last, but not least, is the Uwell Crown X; a small pod kit that packs a real punch. Don’t let the compact size of the Crown X fool you, it can reach up to 60W and is ideal for direct to lung vaping. This advanced vape kit has been designed for those that enjoy sub ohm vaping, as it's capable of supplying vapers with more power and vapour production than other vape kits like it.
As well as adjustable wattage the Crown X also has an airflow that you can customise in order to tailor your vape experience. This means that you can really make the Crown X your own. Whether you prefer a light and airy inhale, or a tight inhale that feels like a cigarette, the Crown X can do both.
As somebody that prefers vapes that can produce more clouds and reach a higher power, the Crown X was definitely one of my favourite vapes. It's one of the best pod vapes of the year because it performs just as well as some of the big, bulky pod kits - but is much smaller.
The only slight downside that I came across whilst using this vape was its battery capacity. If you're using the vape on maximum power you might be slightly disappointed. This is because the vape has a 1500mAh built in battery; but when used at 60W consistently, the battery doesn't last the entire day. That being said, if you're into big, strong vapes, the Crown X would make an amazing secondary device for whilst you're out and about or running errands.
Unlike the other vapes on my list of the best pod vapes, the Crown X uses replaceable coils, the Crown X coils. This means that instead of replacing the whole pod when it burns out, you instead remove the coil and replace it with a new one. Although this is slightly less convenient than other devices, it does give vapers more opportunities to tailor their vape.
Also, because this is a powerful pod kit you may want to avoid using it with liquids that have a thinner consistency. The Crown X, when used at a high power, should be filled with a high VG vape liquid. You can find liquids with 70% VG or higher in our collection of Shortfill vape juices.

What is it that makes pod kits so good, as a whole? Take a look at the list below where I've discussed the main advantages of using them, and why you might want to give them a go.
- Affordable. Pod devices are some of the cheapest and most budget friendly vapes on the market. Although disposables may be cheaper initially, pod systems work out cheaper overall as many of them are both reusable and refillable!
- Simple. A lot of pod kits are so easy to use that you don't need any previous experience or knowledge to get started. There are pods without complicated settings, as well as pods that don't even need to be refilled. Most pods are easier to use than vape kits and mod kits.
