All About the Elf Bar AF5000

Unlike your average disposable vape, the Elf Bar AF5000 breaks the mould by being one of the first big puff vapes to feature a rechargeable battery, as well as an additional e-liquid reservoir. This makes it one of the first legal big puff disposable vapes to last for up to a whopping 5000 puffs! Get comfortable, because in this Elf Bar AF5000 review I’m going to dissect each and every detail of this rechargeable disposable vape to give you the run down and an honest rating.

Before we begin though let’s start by answering some of the most important questions, namely, what exactly is the Elf Bar AF5000?

You’re probably already aware of Elf Bar and what they’re famous for - disposable vapes - and that’s exactly what the Elf Bar 5000 is. A disposable vape, but with a twist. The AF5000 by Elf Bar is one of the very first rechargeable disposable vapes to be released within the UK, and is Elf Bar’s answer to the growing demand for legal big puff vapes.

Due to TPD regulations most disposable vapes are limited to an e-liquid capacity of just 2ml - because of this most of them can only last for up to a measly 600 puffs before needing to be replaced. This is one of the things that makes the Elf Bar AF5000 vape so amazing though - it can offer users up to a maximum of 5000 puffs per device before needing to be replaced. 

How does it work? The AF5000 disposable vape comes with a separate 10ml e-liquid bottle that slots into the device itself. The 10ml of vape juice cranks up the capacity from 2ml to 10ml, which in turn allows the disposable vape to last for much, much longer than the average disposable (more than 8x as long in total!).

As well as the 10ml of vape juice, the AF5000 Elf Bar has been fitted with an internal rechargeable battery so you can make the most of the e-liquid and refill the device multiple times before it needs to be disposed of!

Packaging, Unboxing & Setup

Before testing the AF5000 disposable vape I knew I was in for a treat - how? Because as soon as I held the packaging in my hand I could tell that this was going to be a high quality vape like nothing I’d tried before. 

You just know that when a company puts that much time and effort into producing premium packaging, their products are the real deal - and the Elf Bar AF5000 is no exception to the rule!

Similar to other disposable vapes, the Elf Bar AF5000 vape is sealed in the familiar part-foil part-plastic packaging to keep it fresh. In this sealed packet you’ll not only find the device, but also a user manual for those that prefer to read up on the vape before putting it together. 

However, despite being a RECHARGEABLE disposable vape, Elf Bar haven’t included a charging cable with the device - this was a bit of a drawback, especially for those who use Apple devices exclusively, as it means you’ll have to purchase a USB Type-C cable separately.

One of the first things you might notice about the design of this new 5K Elf Bar disposable isn’t its vibrant colours, but the weight of it. The AF5K is quite a weighty disposable vape, coming in at 60g - this makes it feel a bit sturdier and more durable than other disposables I’ve tried.

Once you take the AF5000 vape out of its packaging you’ll see that there's quite a big sticker covering the e-liquid reservoir - this is a simplified version of the instruction manual and is quite easy to follow, if not a touch patronising. The sticker actually tells you to remove said sticker and ‘read it carefully’, as well as what to do now that you’re ready to set up the rechargeable disposable AF5000 vape.

The AF5000 device is slightly larger than the palm of my hand, but is still quite a compact vape. It has a smooth, slightly shiny exterior for a comfortable hand feel, similar to other Elf Bar disposable vapes I’ve tried previously and features a wide but thin mouthpiece for convenience whilst vaping.

I chose to test the Blueberry Sour Raspberry AF5000 by Elf Bar, and as expected the colour of the vape represents its flavour - exactly as you would expect. The only real downside of the design in my opinion is the fact that it doesn’t stand upright. It turns out that the bottom of the AF5K vape is slightly curved, preventing it from being able to stand up. 

However, you can sit it on its side, which also allows it to refill itself - so there’s a silver lining to this style choice I suppose, who knows, it might even be intentionally designed this way.

Setting up the Elf Bar AF5K was one of the simplest processes possible - I can’t stress this enough. There’s no headache or hassle, and it took me around 45 seconds from start to finish.

Following the Elf Bar AF5000 Instructions

1. Remove the instruction sticker from the outside of the device to reveal the e-liquid reservoir beneath

2.  Fully detach the vape juice reservoir from the rest of the device where you’ll see what looks like a small silicone straw

3. Carefully pull on the silicone stopper to remove it from the device.

6. Turn the AF5000 upside down for approximately 10 seconds whilst the 2ml pod is filled with vape liquid. Once the pod is full there won’t be any visible bubbles.

7. Start puffing on the mouthpiece to enjoy amazing flavour!

As the AF5000 rechargeable vape is now set up it’s time to give it a go and see what all the fuss is about! I’ve broken down my overview into 4 main sections, or else I’d end up rambling forever!

Puff/Draw

From the very first puff you just KNOW Elf Bar are onto something special. The AF5K Elf Bar disposable vape has more ‘oomph’ to it than I’d expected; most disposables are sorely lacking in power, but that’s not the case with the AF5000.

Although I'd still consider this disposable to have a mouth to lung style draw due to the tightness, which is ideal for those that enjoy the MTL vaping style, it’s definitely slightly more powerful than you’d think.

Vapour Production

The vapour production is simply amazing - Elf Bar have gotten the balance just right. The AF5000 produces enough vapour to be visible, for those that like to see a little bit of cloud when they vape, but it’s not so much that it’s too obvious. Also, the amount of vapour did depend on how long I puffed on the vape, as well as how long it took me to exhale as well. 

If you prefer thicker clouds you might want to take longer inhales and shorter exhales. Although if you’re trying to be discreet i’d suggest taking shorter draws and holding your breath for slightly longer.

Flavour

I just want to say that as soon as you rip open the sealed packet the smell of the AF5000 flavour hits you. This is where I first got an inkling of just how much flavour the device was going to offer.

I have to admit that the first puff had me slightly flawed - I just didn’t realise it was going to have SO MUCH FLAVOUR! It’s almost unbelievable - every puff since has been exactly the same. This isn’t your standard vape. This is an Elf Bar vape, and its QUAQ mesh coils are really coming through for it.

If you’re a big fan of flavour, then the AF5000 Elf Bar disposable vape kit just became a must-have! I’m not sure if the flavour would be considered ‘authentic’ as I've never actually eaten blueberries with raspberries before, so I can't compare the two, but the flavour is just like their Elf Bar ElfLiq nic salts, yet it somehow seems stronger?

Either way, I’m a massive fan of this new technology and think that the rest of the big vape brands should take a leaf out of their book, because they’re clearly doing something right!

Battery Life

The AF5000 comes with a built-in 650mAh internal battery which is also rechargeable. This impressive vape battery let me get about a day's worth of use out of the device before it needed to be recharged. Although I allowed the device to run out of battery for testing purposes, the device does actually feature three LED lights to indicate how charged the Elf Bar battery is, so you have a good idea of when exactly you need to plug it in.

• When all three LEDs are lit the battery is between 80% - 100% full.
• When two of the LEDs are lit the battery is between 40% - 80% full.
• If only one LED light is lit then the battery is between 0% - 40% full.

Overall I’d give the elf Bar AF5000 a solid 4.5⭐ out of 5⭐. Here’s how I made my decision:

Pros & Cons

Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed using the Elf Bar AF5000 rechargeable disposable vape, there’s always room for improvement. The flavour was nice and strong, and the inclusion of the LED indicators was a nice touch too. However the lack of a charging cable, as well as the fact that it’s not easy to tell when the vape needs refilling were slight let-downs for me, which is why I deducted half a star.
