The Dangers of Smoking

  • Every year more than 8 million deaths worldwide are attributed to tobacco use each year, and it’s a known fact that approximately half of all people who smoke will die from a smoking-related illness. That means that if you smoke you have a 50% chance of dying from a related illness or condition.
  • Smokers are twice as likely to have a heart attack than non-smokers and over a quarter or all cancer-related deaths are directly linked to smoking.
  • Smoking can trigger life changing health conditions such as Asthma, low fertility rates and tooth decay.

However, we understand that knowing the facts alone won’t make giving up cigarettes or tobacco any easier - which is why we recommend vaping to help quit smoking. Keep reading to discover how to quit smoking by vaping.

Is vaping a good way to quit smoking?

Vaping can be a great alternative to smoking - it provides you with the nicotine that you’re addicted to, but gives you far more control over your consumption as there are a multitude of nicotine strengths available to suit your specific needs.
Using vaping to quit smoking also replicates the same ritualistic behaviour, as you’re still lifting an object to your mouth and inhaling, which is an act that can become ingrained in smokers. This causes vaping to feel more comfortable and natural as an alternative to smoking than other popular methods such as chewing gum or using nicotine patches.

Benefits of vaping to quit smoking

A single cigarette is known to contain more than 4,000 different chemicals - 43 of which are proven carcinogenic (cancer causing) compounds - and that’s not including all of the harmful toxins. Cyanide, Arsenic and Formaldehyde are just a few of the damaging ingredients known to reside within tobacco.

E-liquids that are used within vapes, however, contain none of these ingredients; although both tobacco and vape liquids contain nicotine, which is an addictive substance, it’s not actually considered a genuine health risk. There are a few side effects to nicotine use though - nicotine can cause a temporarily elevated heart rate, but so can a morning cup of coffee or going for a brisk walk.

Due to this, as well as several studies and NHS recommendations, it’s widely believed that vaping is far less harmful for your health than smoking - and it still satisfies your cravings for nicotine too.

How to use vaping to quit smoking ?

Vaping can be a great way to stop smoking; it provides you with a reliable substitute for cigarettes that’s safer and healthier than using tobacco. 1. Pick a date to quit smoking and stick to it.
  2. Prepare yourself mentally for your transition.
  3. Select and order the right type of vape for you - we suggest a mouth to lung vape as it’s the type of vape that provides the most similar sensation to smoking.
  4. Once your new vape arrives, discard all smoking paraphernalia - this includes the cigarettes themselves, as well as any lighters and ashtrays - you don’t want any reminders while you’re trying to quit.
  5. Stock up on vape juices, vape coils/pods as well as any batteries you might need - it’s important that you don’t run out of the essentials for your new vape.

Is it easier to quit vaping than smoking?

We’re sometimes asked by concerned smokers ‘is it harder to quit vaping than smoking’ this is often down to the fact that they’re worried that they’re going to find it difficult to quit smoking, and don’t want to face the same problem when it comes to vaping. However, due to the wide variety of vapes available as well as the multitude of vape liquids with varying nicotine strengths, it’s actually much easier to quit vaping than smoking.

With vaping you can gradually reduce your nicotine intake and wean yourself off over the space of weeks, months or years - it entirely depends on how quickly you’d like to go about it. This is why we recommend that anyone who’s struggling should use vaping to quit smoking as vaping as a way to quit smoking has been proven successful and can be a much more pleasant experience than other methods such as nicotine patches, or going cold turkey.

However, we would not recommend vaping without nicotine to quit smoking initially, as it’s the nicotine that your body craves - and so vaping without nicotine can lead to withdrawal, which can cause some people to go back to cigarettes.
