Introducing the latest starter kit from Innokin, as we know Innokin never fail to amaze us with providing an incredible vaping experience. The Innokin Cortex is a 80watt device with temperature control features,  The Innokin Cortex is capable of producing up to 80 watts with a extremely high battery efficiency to ensure that you get the most out the device. The Cortex is powered by an extremely efficient 3300 mAh internal battery. The Cortex supports a minimum resistance of 0.10 ohms in both temperature and wattage mode. Full temperature control is also integrated as it supports Nickel and Titanium wire. Temperature Control has also never been more accurate as it is always within 10 degrees Celsius.Included is the newest iSub, the iSub S. Integrating a 4.5ml tank capacity with a newly designed top filling system as well as a new adjustable airflow system that allows for both single and dual airflow options, the iSub S offers a great balance of flavour and clouds. Get the best of the best with the Innokin Cortex Kit! With new kits should come new flavours, check out our wide selection of e-liquids.

Ultimately disappointing

I've had and used this unit for a month now and would like to share my thoughts on it. This purchase represents my first foray into mods after enjoying the Aspire K4 and the introduction to sub ohm vaping it gave me. The K4 delivered great flavour and was only held back by a poor battery life and propensity to leak regularly from the tank's airholes. I'd hoped my purchase of the Cortex starter kit would address these points. First things first let's look at the Cortex itself. The battery life is ok, I expected a bit more but it is a step up from the K4. I found the controls fiddly and didn't like the display screen being on the base of the unit. The only sane rationale for designing it this way would be to avoid compromising some fantastic aesthetics, but the Cortex is a rather non-descript, utilitarian box. Once you get to grips with the controls (and I highly recommend ignoring the ineptly worded manual to do so), temperature or wattage can be altered precisely in conjuction with the appropriate coil. In this aspect I'd give the Cortex 4 or 5 stars, but the abilities of the mod are rendered irrelevant by the deficiencies in tank and coils. The I-Sub S tank is initially very promising. I love the large capacity and the top filling mechanism is an inspired piece of design. When refilling the Cleito tank on the K4 I had the inescapable feeling that unscrewing the top to refill was loosening other areas, a feeling that tended to be verified by leaking shortly thereafter. With the i-Sub S you effectively click open a hole through which you can squeeze your eliquid, then click it closed. A vast improvement on anything I've used before. However, just like the Cleito the i-Sub S is leaking within a couple of weeks and without any obvious reason. During my month of ownership I've tried cleaning and reassembling the tank to see if that helps, but all to no avail. This thing leaks out the airholes like there's no tomorrow. The other big issue with the tank is how extremely fiddly it is to reassemble, especially with the silly plastic o-ring you have to try and install within a cylinder prior to the coil going through it. It took me many attempts before I could position it well enough for the unit to go back together again snugly. This is another area where the inept instruction manual serves only as a source of frustration. If you're going to make something as intricate as this then having a couple of ambiguous, sub-Kinder Surprise diagrams doesn't really cut the mustard. Onto the coils and another major source of disappointment. The clactons deliver an abhorrent flavour, converting your favourite e liquid into a lung full of scrapyard, regardless of wattage. The only coils worth using are the titanium ones. E liquids I'd previously enjoyed in the Cleito tank became even more nuanced and flavoursome with these coils. Installing a titanium coil also allows you to use the temperature control and at around 210 Celsius I enjoyed some fantastic vaping. Here's the bottom line though, an unreliable tank that leaks out the airholes renders the whole thing pointless. I want to be able to use my device at home and at work without having to worry about leaks. To date I've bought and used three vaping devices; a Kangertech EVOD Mega, Aspire K4 and Innokin Cortex 80W TC. The one i use most is the one that is most limited in terms of flavour and clouds, but sure to last the day without the leaking - the EVOD Mega. I love vaping and have the budget to buy pretty much any device, but what's the point if the expensive ones keep leaking and I have to return to a £15 Kangertech model? Perhaps I have unrealistic expectations but when someone can sell me a Sub Ohm vaping device with good battery life and a functional tank that doesn't leak, i'll be all over it. The Cortex 80W TC doesn't deliver, it's just another sub-Ohm Alfa Romeo and the market's awash with them.
